OKPEBHOLO URGES SOUTH SOUTH MONARCHS TO BACK TINUBU’S 2027 RE-ELECTION

Benin City – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on traditional rulers across the South South geopolitical zone to unite behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing Tinubu’s re-election bid as critical to Nigeria’s stability and continued progress.
Speaking while hosting members of the South South Monarchs Forum at the Government House in Benin City, the Governor stressed the importance of traditional institutions in strengthening national unity, promoting development, and enhancing security.
“The South South should speak with one voice because we have our son as President. He deserves our total support to complete the good work he has started,” Okpebholo said.
He cited President Tinubu’s economic policies, improved federal allocations, and reforms in taxation as critical drivers of grassroots development, adding that the administration’s efforts to combat insecurity were already yielding results.
The Governor also called on royal fathers to assist in intelligence gathering and community surveillance, noting their influence at the grassroots as vital to sustaining law and order. He promised to work with fellow Southern governors to elevate the relevance and dignity of traditional rulers in modern governance.
Responding on behalf of the Forum, the Vice Chairman and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (rtd), lauded Okpebholo’s leadership style, especially his defense of the Benin monarchy and his promotion of peace in Edo State. The monarch pledged the Forum’s full support for both the Governor and President Tinubu’s administration.
