The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a sharp rebuke alleging that a contested letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was signed by a state official in the presence of the governor, raising fresh accusations of forgery. Party sources say the alleged document has become the centrepiece of a widening dispute that the PDP says warrants urgent investigation and legal scrutiny.
PDP officials said they have presented their concerns to relevant authorities and demanded verification of signatures and the circumstances in which the letter was produced. The party called for transparency and urged both state and federal institutions — including INEC and law enforcement — to ensure the integrity of electoral and administrative processes is preserved.
Governors’ offices and the accused officials have been given an opportunity to respond to the allegations, and the PDP said it will pursue the matter through legal channels if necessary. Meanwhile, stakeholders are calling for calm while the inquiry proceeds, stressing the need for due process and prompt clarification to prevent escalation.
