The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed concerns that ongoing internal disagreements will derail its upcoming national convention, saying party organs remain committed to completing the process on schedule. Party officials acknowledged challenges in reconciling competing interests but insisted that the national secretariat has been working to resolve disputes through established mechanisms.
In a statement, the PDP’s national executive described the convention as an opportunity to renew party structures and galvanise members ahead of future elections. Senior leaders said they have convened reconciliation committees and are engaging stakeholders across the federation to ensure transparency in delegate selection and voting procedures.
Opposition members and some party critics, however, warned that unresolved grievances could spill into open conflict if not adequately addressed. The PDP leadership reiterated a call for patience and unity, promising that disciplinary and adjudication channels within the party would be used where necessary to preserve organisational cohesion.
