PDP JIGAWA FACTION DRAGS PARTY TO COURT OVER ALLEGED CONGRESS FRAUD
Aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State have sued the party at the Federal High Court in Dutse, seeking to stop upcoming local and state congresses.
The plaintiffs, represented by Barrister Dahiru Sheikh Mujaddadi, filed the case before Justice Hassan Dikko. The suit (FHC/DT/CS/19/2025) lists the PDP, National Publicity Secretary Umar M. Bature, former chairman Abdulillah Diginsa, and congress committee heads as defendants.
Hon. Abba Anas Adamu, a former federal lawmaker and co-plaintiff, told reporters that the congresses were riddled with constitutional breaches. He alleged that local-level elections were conducted in private homes while state officials were handpicked, violating party rules.
“We are not out of touch with history. The PDP in Jigawa has been hijacked by a few individuals. We are confident the court will nullify this illegality,” Adamu said.
Justice Dikko adjourned the case to May 28, 2025, for mention.
