PDP WON’T MERGE WITH ANY PARTY AHEAD OF 2027 — SENATE MINORITY LEADER
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro has dismissed speculation that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is considering a merger or alliance with other political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking during an interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), Moro stressed that the PDP remains a dominant political force with nationwide structures.
He conceded that coalitions might be considered in the spirit of opposition unity, but any suggestion of erasing the PDP identity through a merger was unacceptable. “Our brand is solid and should not be compromised. PDP can win elections on its own,” he said. Moro’s comments follow mounting debate over opposition realignments amid the APC’s ongoing dominance, and come after defections and tensions within the PDP itself.
