The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its nationwide strike against the Dangote Petroleum Refinery following a truce brokered by the Federal Government.
Union president Festus Osifo confirmed the decision in Abuja, stating that although not all demands were met, an agreement was reached to redeploy sacked workers and improve conditions for union members. He warned that any breach of the deal would trigger renewed action.
The suspension comes after days of paralysis in parts of the oil sector, with gas supplies disrupted and fears of power shortages mounting. The truce has been hailed as a relief for businesses and households already struggling with economic pressures.
However, stakeholders remain cautious, stressing that trust between Dangote management and the union must be rebuilt for lasting stability.
