Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has delivered one of his most scathing critiques of the Federal Government, accusing officials of engaging in endless political arguments while ordinary Nigerians face alarming levels of violence.
Obi argued that the country is “bleeding from every direction,” citing the spike in kidnappings, rural massacres, and school abductions. He questioned why national leaders remain locked in partisan debates instead of mounting a coordinated national security overhaul.
He called for a nationwide security summit and advocated a people-centered approach involving community policing, improved intelligence capacity, and economic interventions targeted at at-risk youths.
Analysts say Obi’s comments reflect the mounting pressure on the federal government following weeks of high-profile attacks and abductions.
