President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s balance of trade has tilted in the country’s favour, with the nation now exporting more than it imports.
Speaking at a ceremony in Abuja, Tinubu said his administration’s reforms in foreign exchange, fiscal policy, and industrial development have begun to yield measurable results. He stressed that Nigeria is gradually reducing dependency on imports while creating a pathway for increased exports of manufactured goods, agricultural products, and energy resources.
The president maintained that his government’s priority is to reposition Nigeria as a competitive global player. According to him, efforts to stabilize the naira and expand local industries are already attracting foreign interest, with Nigeria exporting more value-added products than in recent years.
