Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that the 10th Senate will continue to operate with transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the people’s needs.
Akpabio gave the assurance during October 7thTuesday’s plenary, which marked the resumption of legislative activities after the recess. He emphasized that the Senate remains committed to enacting laws that strengthen good governance, protect citizens’ rights, and boost national development.
He also acknowledged growing public concerns about the cost of governance and pledged that the Senate would prioritize oversight functions to ensure fiscal prudence by government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
The assurance comes amid heightened expectations from Nigerians grappling with economic challenges and insecurity, with calls for lawmakers to demonstrate greater empathy and responsibility.
