Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called for regular drug tests for lawmakers following remarks made about her by Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West.
Karimi, defending former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, suggested that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension from the Senate justified past conflicts between her and the ex-governor. He also implied that Kogi lawmakers had foreseen her current troubles but were ignored.
In response, Akpoti-Uduaghan fired back, questioning the mental state of some lawmakers. “NDLEA needs to conduct periodic tests on Senators. That singular process will save the parliament from erratic legislative hallucinations,” she stated.
Her comments come amid tensions following her six-month suspension for misconduct, which stemmed from her allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
