TIKTOK GOSPEL SINGER SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER OF NYSC MEMBER

A High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, a self-styled gospel musician and TikTok motivational speaker, to death by hanging for the gruesome murder of NYSC member Salome Adaidu. Justice Simon Aboki delivered the judgment on Friday, convicting Ajayi of culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Northern Nigerian Penal Code.
Ajayi was arrested on January 12, 2025, while attempting to dispose of the decapitated head of 24-year-old Adaidu, whom he had reportedly dated for a year. The young corps member was serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja and had visited Ajayi in New Karshi, Karu LGA, when the fatal incident occurred. According to police, Ajayi admitted during interrogation that a dispute led to the murder, claiming self-defense. Nevertheless, he confessed to dismembering the body, leaving the remains in his home.
The case gripped national attention, particularly after a disturbing video of the burial ceremony went viral. Justice Aboki’s verdict was met with quiet relief from a public outraged by the brutality of the act and the growing concern over violence against women in Nigeria.
