Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has revealed that President Tinubu is committed to fully integrating local hunters into Nigeria’s security architecture to safeguard forest zones. Speaking during a visit by the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), the monarch said Tinubu assured him of the plan during a recent meeting.
Oba Ogunwusi lauded the Senate for passing a bill to formalize NFSS operations and called for professionalism among its ranks. NFSS Commandant-General Joshua Osatimehin, who led the visit, thanked the Ooni for his support and praised states like Lagos, Oyo, and Bauchi for already collaborating with the NFSS.
“With operatives in all 774 LGAs, we are ready to prevent forest infiltration and secure rural Nigeria,” Osatimehin said.
