Two Niger Delta traditional rulers have accused President Bola Tinubu of executing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s political agenda by declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State.
HRM King Dodo II of Bilabiri Kingdom and HRH King Jerry Prebor (Snr.) of Meinbutus Federated Communities condemned the move, calling it undemocratic and politically motivated.
“The president ignored Wike’s role in the crisis,” Prebor said. “Since impeachment failed, they used emergency rule to remove Governor Fubara.”
King Dodo II urged Tinubu to sack Wike instead, warning that the crisis could spread.
Critics continue to question the legality of suspending elected officials under emergency rule, with growing calls for a fair resolution.
