WIKE DECLARES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ILLEGAL STRUCTURES IN ABUJA

Abuja — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning that his administration will demolish every illegal construction within the capital city. Wike, who spoke during an inspection tour of urban development sites, maintained that Abuja must not be reduced to what he called “a lawless settlement.”

The minister explained that while development is encouraged, it must align with the Abuja Master Plan. He insisted that no one, regardless of influence, will be spared if they flout planning laws. “If you build where you are not supposed to, it will go down. It doesn’t matter who you are,” Wike declared.

He assured residents that the government will provide alternatives for properly approved housing and commercial developments, but warned against patronizing land speculators or erecting structures without clearance from relevant agencies.

Urban planning experts present at the inspection applauded the move, noting that restoring compliance with the city’s design will improve safety, aesthetics, and infrastructure efficiency in the FCT.
