Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality education by commissioning the Holy Child Convent Model Primary School in Abak.
Represented by his Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, the Governor emphasized the government’s vision of ensuring that every child in the state has access to quality education as outlined in the ARISE Agenda.
He noted that the school, now fully remodeled, is equipped with modern learning facilities to create a conducive environment for students. “Our public schools should accommodate both the rich and the poor while competing with private institutions,” Eyakenyi stated.
To support learning, students will receive free school uniforms, books, and other essential materials. The local government has also been directed to provide 24-hour security for the facility.
Commissioner for Education, Professor Ubong Umoh, highlighted the state-of-the-art features of the school, including an ICT laboratory, a well-stocked library, a modern sick bay, solar-powered electricity, an assembly hall, and staff quarters.
Speaking at the event, Abak Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Ime Charles, praised the Governor for his investment in education and called for proper maintenance of the facility.
The event was attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders who lauded the government’s efforts in transforming education in the state.
