The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media that alleged an attempted assassination on Lieutenant AM Yarima, a naval officer reportedly involved in a political face-off with Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The controversy arose after military sources claimed that Yarima was trailed by two unmarked Hilux vans on Sunday evening in Kubwa, with the officer reportedly performing evasive manoeuvres along the Kubwa Motorway to Gado Nasco Road.
However, the police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, clarified that the incident did not occur.
SP Adeh also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police division for their safety.
The FCT Police Command’s statement effectively debunks the viral claims, emphasizing that there was no assassination attempt on Lt Yarima and cautioning the public against unverified reports that could fuel fear or unrest.
