Former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has refuted claims that his administration left a ₦600 billion debt burden for the state.
In a statement released by his media aide, Obaseki described the reports as misleading and politically motivated, asserting that his government maintained fiscal discipline and transparency throughout its tenure.
He noted that his administration prioritized infrastructure, education, healthcare, and institutional reforms while ensuring that all borrowing was within sustainable limits and approved by relevant authorities.
Obaseki urged the public to disregard misinformation aimed at discrediting his legacy, stressing that the state’s debt profile was publicly available and verified by federal fiscal institutions.
