Kebbi Govt donates 10 hilux vehicles to secure Sokoto–Badagry super‑highway project

The Kebbi State Government has donated 10 brand‑new Toyota Hilux vehicles to bolster security along the section of the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway that runs through Kebbi.

The handover was made to the Federal Ministry of Works via its Minister of State, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, at a brief ceremony at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi. The vehicles are designated for security operatives tasked with protecting construction workers, engineers, and project equipment across the highway corridor.

Governor Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu) said the contribution reflects his administration’s “unwavering commitment” to ensuring uninterrupted progress on the highway arguing that infrastructure development can’t thrive where security and safety of workers are not guaranteed.

Officials from the ministry noted that the security boost is timely: the section of the super‑highway in Kebbi extends over 258 km, and with heavy equipment, frequent movement and numerous workers along the route, a strong security presence is essential to deter threats and ensure smooth project delivery.

The Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is hailed as a transformative national infrastructure project once completed, it is expected to improve trade, ease transportation, open economic corridors connecting northern and southern Nigeria, and foster growth in agriculture and commerce across states along the route.
