Lady Helen Obareki, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, has reiterated that sustainable development cannot be achieved without gender equality and equal opportunities for all citizens.
Speaking at the Country Gender Equality Profile Focus Group Discussion and Roadmap Validation Workshop in Uyo, Obareki said the programme is vital to ensuring that women, girls, and vulnerable individuals are fully included in national and subnational policies.
She commended Governor Umo Eno for supporting women’s empowerment initiatives, while development partners, consultants, and stakeholders called for dismantling systemic barriers to equality and inclusion.
The workshop brought together representatives from six southern states, MDAs, NGOs, faith-based organizations, and civil society groups.
