Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, describing him as a man of humility, vision, and impactful leadership.
President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, made the remarks at the reception following the funeral of Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro — mother of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Deputy Governor (Operations), Mrs. Emem Usoro — held at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene.
The President lauded Governor Eno for fostering unity and steady development in Akwa Ibom, stating that his leadership reflects “grace, compassion, and service.” He also extolled the virtues of the late matriarch, describing her as “a great story of faith and generosity whose life was a living sermon of kindness.”
“The late Deaconess Usoro raised her children to succeed and serve, leaving behind a legacy that will outlive her. Those who live for others never truly die,” Shettima said on the President’s behalf.
In his remarks, Governor Eno paid tribute to Mrs. Usoro for her exemplary service and her daughter’s contributions to national development. He thanked Vice President Shettima and other dignitaries for honoring Akwa Ibom with their presence, noting that their attendance underscores the state’s growing prominence in national affairs.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also delivered a goodwill message, commending Emem Usoro for honoring her mother’s memory in a manner befitting her values and life of service.
The event was attended by members of the National Assembly, the State Executive Council, captains of industry, political leaders, and other distinguished guests from across the country.
