Gambian Tech Entrepreneur Honoured for Advancing Locally Developed Healthcare Technology
ABUJA, NIGERIA — Ousman Manneh, Chief Executive Officer and Systems Engineer at BTS Health Technologies in The Gambia, will be honoured with Africa’s Most Outstanding Emerging CEO in HealthTech Innovation — 2026 at the Global Distinguished CEOs Awards (GLODICEA), set for Friday, October 30, 2026, at The Brookside, Maitama, Abuja.
The award, presented by The Papyrus Global, recognises Manneh’s emerging leadership in healthcare technology and his push to build affordable, intelligent, connected medical solutions tailored to African healthcare systems.
At BTS Health Technologies, Manneh is leading development of the Body Tracking System (BTS) — an integrated patient-monitoring device designed to combine multiple physiological measurements in a single portable unit. The system incorporates embedded electronics, wireless communication, cloud-based health-data management and companion mobile applications, aimed at giving hospitals, clinicians and caregivers more connected, efficient patient monitoring.
The Papyrus Global’s selection notes cite Manneh’s work as an example of African-led innovation addressing local healthcare challenges through locally relevant technology. BTS Health Technologies has built its engineering concept, product requirements, system architecture and development roadmap, positioning the company for prototype development, testing and eventual pilot deployment — with affordability and accessibility built in from the start, given the cost and infrastructure constraints that often limit access to sophisticated medical equipment across the region.
Manneh’s ambitions extend beyond the initial device: the company’s roadmap includes remote patient monitoring, AI-assisted health analytics, telemedicine integration and smart home healthcare devices, alongside longer-term plans for local medical-technology manufacturing and a biomedical research and innovation centre. BTS is also eyeing expansion into Senegal, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ghana, Nigeria and other ECOWAS markets.
In his letter of acceptance, dated September 22, 2026, Manneh thanked The Papyrus Global for the recognition and confirmed he will attend the ceremony in Abuja. He called the honour a milestone for both himself and BTS Health Technologies — one he said will spur the team to keep developing the Body Tracking System and pursuing its broader vision for African healthcare innovation.

Manneh’s award puts a spotlight on The Gambia’s emerging HealthTech ecosystem and the broader role African entrepreneurs are playing in developing technology to meet the continent’s healthcare needs.
