Man United Humiliated at Old Trafford as Liverpool End Anfield Drought

Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, while Liverpool secured their first Premier League home victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Brighton.

United manager Michael Carrick came under increasing pressure following the defeat, which was overshadowed by his decision to leave captain Bruno Fernandes and forward Matheus Cunha on the bench.

Bournemouth took control of the match, with Rayan opening the scoring in the 38th minute after meeting a free-kick delivery with a precise low finish.

Marcus Tavernier doubled the visitors’ advantage before half-time, capitalising on defensive errors to slot home Adrien Truffert’s pass.

United’s struggles continued after the break, and goalkeeper Senne Lammens’ misjudgement of Lewis Cook’s long ball allowed Evanilson to score into an unguarded net in the 71st minute.

The defeat extended United’s winless run to eight consecutive matches in all competitions, leaving the club 16th in the Premier League table with seven points and increasing concerns over their position.

Meanwhile, Liverpool returned to winning ways at Anfield with a 2-0 victory over Brighton.

Pascal Gross’ own goal and a strike from Alexander Isak secured the points for Liverpool, lifting the Reds to fourth place with 15 points from eight matches.
