The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has launched a statewide free HIV testing campaign across all Local Government and Local Council Development Areas ahead of the 2025 World AIDS Day.
The exercise, running from November 18 to December 1, aims to expand access to HIV screening, close testing gaps, and deepen community awareness on prevention and stigma reduction. LSACA said trained counsellors, testing kits, condoms, and information materials have been deployed to communities to ensure smooth service delivery.
LSACA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, urged residents to take advantage of the free, confidential testing, noting that early diagnosis is key to effective treatment and reducing new infections.
She added that LSACA is partnering with development agencies and community organisations to reach underserved areas while continuing efforts to strengthen HIV testing centres and statewide awareness campaigns.
The agency reiterated that knowing one’s status remains a crucial step toward achieving an HIV-free Lagos.
