A strategist of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised the Nigerian government over its perceived slow response to current President Donald Trump’s recent statements on Nigeria, describing the situation as a reflection of weak diplomatic readiness and poor strategic communication.
According to the party official, the federal government’s inability to provide immediate clarity on ambassadorial appointments and external relations exposed lapses within Nigeria’s foreign policy structure. The strategist said the controversy has laid bare years of underinvestment in diplomatic institutions and questioned the preparedness of key ministries to respond to evolving global dynamics.
Observers note that the ADC’s criticism comes amid growing public debate over the effectiveness of Nigeria’s external relations strategy and its capacity to manage tensions triggered by Trump’s recent pronouncements. Analysts warn that such incidents could undermine Nigeria’s international standing if not addressed through prompt and coordinated communication from both the presidency and the foreign affairs ministry.
