ADC unveils new National Headquarters

The African Democratic Congress on Monday inaugurated its new national secretariat in Abuja formerly used by Atiku Abubakar as his presidential campaign office but key opposition figures the party has been wooing, including Atiku and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, were absent.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed suggestions that acquiring Atiku’s old office signaled a  realignment within the opposition. He said the building’s previous use was irrelevant and that the move was purely an ADC decision.

Abdullahi stressed that the party remained committed to fairness and internal stability ahead of its February congresses, noting that the leadership under Senator David Mark had managed to keep internal disputes minimal.

Addressing questions on the status of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and Peter Obi within the ADC-led coalition, Abdullahi said both men were expected to take clear positions now that the Anambra governorship election had been concluded. The ADC has been pushing affiliate members of the coalition to resign from their original parties and formally register with the ADC an effort that has faced resistance.

ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, described the new headquarters as a symbol of the coalition’s resolve to reshape Nigeria’s political future. He said the office would serve as the party’s strategic nerve centre for developing policies, nurturing leaders and strengthening democratic institutions.
