Governor Umo Eno has praised past leaders of Akwa Ibom State for laying the foundation for the state’s steady development since its creation in 1987. Speaking at a special banquet to mark the 38th anniversary, the governor said the state had transformed from obscurity to a model of growth and progress through the sacrifices of successive administrations.
The governor acknowledged contributions of political stakeholders across party lines, stressing that Akwa Ibom’s unity remains its greatest strength. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for supporting state governments financially without compelling them into debt, noting that Akwa Ibom has not borrowed since his assumption of office. He also celebrated prominent Akwa Ibom indigenes, including Mayor Jason Jackson of Islington, UK, and newly promoted NSCDC ACG Samuel Okon, for making the state proud.
Former Military Administrator Col. Tunde Ogbeha (rtd) and other dignitaries lauded Akwa Ibom’s trajectory of development, while political party leaders from both APC and PDP praised Governor Eno for prioritizing peace and inclusivity. The governor reassured citizens of his commitment to building a united Akwa Ibom that transcends political differences and remains firmly on the path of progress.
