AKPABIO HAILS ANABA’S RE-ELECTION AS NGE PRESIDENT

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Eze Anaba, editor of Vanguard Newspapers, following his re-election as President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE). In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio described the re-election as a strong vote of confidence in Anaba’s professionalism and unwavering commitment to ethical journalism.
Akpabio commended Anaba as a principled and courageous journalist whose career has been marked by integrity and dedication to the public good. He noted that the role of the media in democracy cannot be overstated and reiterated the National Assembly’s readiness to collaborate with the press in promoting good governance and accountability.
Describing Anaba as “a square peg in a square hole,” the Senate President praised the NGE for its leadership in confronting unprofessional practices and fake news. He urged the Guild to remain a bulwark of truth in an age of misinformation and pledged support for initiatives that will strengthen the media landscape in Nigeria.
On behalf of the 10th Senate and the National Assembly, Akpabio wished Anaba and the newly elected executives of the Guild a successful and impactful tenure.
