Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced a partnership between the state government and the Federal Government’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to expand electricity access in rural communities, aligning with his ARISE Agenda for inclusive development. During a courtesy visit by the REA leadership to Government House in Uyo, Governor Eno expressed confidence that the collaboration would energize the economic and social transformation of underserved areas.
The Managing Director of REA, Abba Aliyu, detailed the agency’s 12-core programme strategy, highlighting ongoing projects such as the 2.9MW solar hybrid power plant under construction at the University of Uyo. He commended the Governor’s development framework, noting its alignment with REA’s commitment to bridging Nigeria’s energy access gap through decentralized, renewable energy solutions.
