Akwa Ibom Traders Hail Governor Eno for Transparent Grant Distribution

Market traders in Akwa Ibom State have expressed appreciation to Governor Umo Eno for fulfilling his campaign promise to support small business owners through transparent and non-political grant distributions.

Speaking during a radio program, Inside Arise Agenda on Premium 89.9 FM, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Matters, Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael, commended the administration’s commitment to economic empowerment.

He noted that the process of selecting beneficiaries was free from political interference, as lists were compiled by market leaders, ensuring that only genuine traders benefited.

To maintain fairness, Raphael revealed that the verification process included on-site visits to confirm that recipients were actual business owners and not merely associates of market leaders.

Highlighting a case study, he mentioned how a young entrepreneur with no government connections received ₦5 million to expand his paint production business.

“The governor’s financial gesture has encouraged traders to invest more in their businesses, which will ultimately contribute to reducing food prices and boosting economic activities in the state,” Raphael stated.

He emphasized that beneficiaries cut across different political affiliations, including members of the PDP, APC, and YPP, reflecting the Governor’s inclusive governance approach.

Traders across the state have vowed to support Governor Eno’s administration, pledging to use the grants for business expansion and economic growth.
