Anani urges Afemai Women to embrace Empowerment and Home-Building Initiatives

The Edo State Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, Hon. Christabel Omoh Ekwu, represented by Mrs. Julie Anani, has called on Afemai women to embrace economic empowerment, home-building, and self-development initiatives as part of their contribution to strengthening family and community life.

She made the call during a women’s forum held in Auchi, which brought together hundreds of participants from across Edo North Senatorial District. Anani emphasized that women play a central role in maintaining family stability, nurturing values, and driving social transformation, and therefore must take advantage of empowerment opportunities being provided by the state government.

She highlighted various ongoing women-focused initiatives, including vocational training, microcredit schemes, and health awareness programs designed to enhance financial independence and wellbeing. “Women are builders of homes and shapers of destinies. When women are empowered, the family and society are strengthened,” she said.

Participants commended the state government for its sustained commitment to gender inclusion and rural empowerment, pledging to support ongoing projects that promote education, peace, and entrepreneurship among women.
