APC Warns of Plot to Destabilize Edo Ahead of Tribunal Judgment

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused opposition parties of plotting to create chaos in the state ahead of the Edo Election Petition Tribunal judgment scheduled for today Wednesday, 2nd of April.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe alleged that certain opposition figures were deliberately attempting to instigate a crisis to force President Bola Tinubu into declaring a state of emergency in Edo.

“It has come to our attention that the leadership of some major opposition parties, along with two others, has devised a reckless and dangerous plot to make Edo ungovernable,” Tenebe stated.

According to him, the alleged masterminds of the plan are acting out of fear that they will lose their case at the tribunal. He warned that the APC would resist any attempt to disrupt the peace in the state.

The Edo Election Petition Tribunal is set to rule on a petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, challenging the outcome of the September 21, 2024, governorship election.

With political tensions rising, all eyes are now on the tribunal’s verdict and the potential fallout from the ruling.
