ASUU LAMENTS GOVERNMENT’S FAILURE TO HONOR AGREEMENTS

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed frustration over the Federal Government’s continued failure to fulfill its promises despite previous negotiations aimed at resolving their longstanding disputes.

ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, revealed that no significant progress had been made despite the government setting up a renegotiation team months ago.

“We’ve presented our positions, but it’s been two months with no feedback. It’s as if the government doesn’t care about public universities,” Osodeke lamented.

He criticized the political class for sending their children abroad for education while neglecting the needs of Nigerian universities. “This narrative must change if Nigeria wants genuine progress,” he stressed.

Osodeke hinted at the possibility of a nationwide strike, stating that ASUU members would meet soon to decide on the union’s next line of action.
