BBNAIJA’S PHYNA SLAMS PRESIDENT TINUBU’S VISIT TO MASSACRE SITE, CALLS OUT ‘PHOTOSHOOT POLITICS’

Reality star and Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, has publicly condemned President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the Yelewata community in Benue State, where over 200 residents were reportedly killed in a night-time assault by suspected herdsmen. In an emotionally charged post shared on social media, Phyna expressed deep dismay over the president’s visit, questioning the relevance and timing of what she described as a “photoshoot” while the community was still engulfed in mourning.
“There were no victims in Yelewata—they were all killed and burnt alive,” she wrote. “Who are those in the hospital that the president went to visit standing on a red rug? @officialABAT why are you doing a photoshoot to make us angrier?” Her post reflected the sentiments of many Nigerians who felt that the visit was performative rather than meaningful. The juxtaposition of the presidential entourage with red carpets and security fanfare amid a backdrop of mass death struck a nerve online, especially among younger Nigerians disillusioned with political leadership.
Phyna further lamented the state of the nation, stating, “Nigeria has failed us,” as she called for authentic leadership and accountability. Her comments have sparked renewed debate about political optics in the wake of tragedy, and whether Nigerian leaders are more concerned with image management than actual humanitarian response.
