In a surprise move in Nigeria’s top-flight domestic football, Kennedy Boboye has been officially unveiled as the new head coach of Bendel Insurance FC.
The appointment is part of a series of coaching changes across the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season, as clubs seek sharper performance in a competitive 2025–26 campaign. Bendel Insurance, historically a strong club, has struggled recently and is hoping Boboye’s leadership will inject renewed morale and tactical clarity.
Boboye was introduced at a press event in Benin City, where club executives expressed optimism about his experience and track record. Details of his contract weren’t immediately disclosed, but the club emphasized immediate objectives: climbing the league table and stabilising performances.
The NPFL’s current standings highlight how tight competition is becoming: Nasarawa United leads, Enyimba remains unbeaten longest, while clubs like Kano Pillars have had points deducted amid sanctions.
