Preparations for the Central African Republic’s (CAR) general elections have reached a critical milestone with the arrival of sensitive electoral materials in Bangui, strengthening logistical readiness for voting scheduled on December 28, 2025. The materials were delivered ahead of schedule to ensure distribution and implementation can proceed smoothly across the country.
The shipment which includes ballot papers, voter lists and other essential electoral documentation was received by the president of the Autorité Nationale des Elections (ANE) and representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and MINUSCA, the United Nations peacekeeping mission in CAR. These items are vital to the conduct of presidential, legislative and local elections, forming the backbone of the country’s electoral framework.
Officials have emphasised that the arrival of electoral materials is a major step in the election timeline, giving authorities sufficient time to distribute documents to polling stations and support civic education efforts. The ANE has urged eligible voters to collect their voter cards and participate in the democratic process, reinforcing the importance of broad citizen engagement.
The general elections come amid a politically charged environment, with incumbent leaders seeking new mandates and calls for strengthened democratic governance resonating with both local and international observers. The successful deployment of electoral materials is expected to help mitigate logistical obstacles and contribute to a credible and transparent electoral process.
