The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered an investigation into a viral video showing soldiers complaining about the quality and quantity of food provided by their operational command.
In the footage, soldiers displayed food supplies they claimed were insufficient, raising serious questions about troop welfare.
Responding to the viral clip, Acting Army Spokesperson Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele stated that the Nigerian Army is taking the matter seriously. “The authenticity and context of the video are being examined, and a thorough investigation is underway,” she said.
Lt.-Gen. Oluyede reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability, and the welfare of soldiers, urging personnel to use internal channels for complaints. “Using unauthorised platforms for grievances is not only unprofessional—it violates military discipline,” he warned.
The outcome of the investigation will be made public, the Army said, as part of efforts to maintain institutional integrity and trust.
