COURT ORDER ON TINTED GLASS PERMITS ENFORCEMENT BINDING – CDHR

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has said that the recent court suspension of the enforcement of tinted glass permits by security agencies is legally binding and must be respected.

In a statement on Friday October 4th, the rights group commended the judiciary for upholding the rule of law, stressing that arbitrary enforcement of tinted glass regulations had led to harassment of motorists. CDHR said the court’s directive makes it illegal for security personnel to continue arresting or intimidating drivers over tinted permits until the matter is conclusively resolved.

The organization called on the Inspector General of Police and other relevant agencies to issue immediate compliance orders to their operatives nationwide. It also urged Nigerians who face continued harassment to document and report such incidents for legal redress.
