DAVID MARK DECLARES NEUTRALITY AS ADC SHUNS 2027 PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENTS

In a move aimed at positioning the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape, former Senate President and interim national chairman of the party, David Mark, has stated that the ADC will not endorse any preferred presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a strategic meeting with party stakeholders from Kogi State in Abuja on Tuesday, Mark declared that the ADC under his leadership is focused on building an inclusive, transparent platform for national redemption, not a vehicle for personal ambition or selective promotion.
“We are not projecting any particular aspirant,” he said. “We’re creating a national platform that’s acceptable to the majority of Nigerians. We want to save this country before it sinks—and if it sinks, we’ll all be affected.”
The former military administrator of Niger State emphasized that all party members are co-owners and equal stakeholders, adding that no one will enjoy special privileges. He called on party members to unite, warning that internal strife could undermine the ADC’s mission to challenge the status quo in 2027.
Mark also used the opportunity to caution Nigerian politicians against destructive rhetoric. “Instead of attacking one another, let’s face our real enemy—poverty, insecurity, and poor governance,” he said. “These are the issues ADC is committed to addressing.”
The statement comes as speculation grows around several opposition heavyweights, including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, all of whom have been linked to the coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
