Afrobeats superstar Davido has fired back at online critics who often downplay his success because of his affluent background. Responding to trolls who taunted him for frequently using his father’s private jet, Davido clapped back with trademark sarcasm.
“This free jet wey I dey fly all around the world dey really pain una. I’m sorry it’s my birthright,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), adding, “In my next life, I go come back as vulcaniser. Ma binu.”
The singer, son of billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, has long faced criticism that his achievements are a product of privilege. But Davido insists he has earned his stripes in the music industry, often pointing out that despite his background, he has carved out a distinct identity with numerous awards and hit records.
His latest reaction has reignited debate over class, talent, and privilege in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
