A new 2.5 MVA sub-injection power station has been commissioned in Udomi–Uwessan, Esan Central Local Government Area, as part of Edo State’s rural electrification campaign under Governor Okpebholo’s administration. During a site visit, the governor highlighted the substation as a crucial investment in public infrastructure that would guarantee more stable electricity supply for households, clinics, and small businesses. “We are not just lighting up homes—we are energizing progress,” he said. The power station, completed in collaboration with BEDC and other state agencies, is expected to serve over 14,000 residents and commercial users across Uwessan and neighboring communities. Community leaders expressed gratitude to the state government, saying the development ends decades of epileptic power supply and paves the way for industrial mini-hubs to be activated in the area. The electricity boost is expected to improve local healthcare delivery, extend business operating hours, and attract youth-led innovation hubs in the agribusiness and tech sectors.
