The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, over the recent distribution of palliatives in his constituency, describing it as a return to “the old order of political gimmickry.”
In a statement issued by the PDP’s spokesperson, Hon. Chris Nehikhare, the party accused the former governor of attempting to manipulate citizens’ economic hardship for political mileage, instead of promoting sustainable empowerment and development.
According to the statement, “You can’t go back to your vomit and call it empowerment. Edo people deserve empowerment programs that create jobs, support entrepreneurs, and improve living standards—not temporary handouts aimed at photo opportunities.”
The PDP commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for sustaining genuine welfare programs such as the Edo State Social Investment Scheme, youth skills initiatives, and agricultural empowerment projects that have direct and long-term impact on citizens.
Nehikhare called on Edo residents to remain vigilant and reject deceptive populism that prioritizes politics over progress.
