Ex‑adviser urges Tinubu to quit

A former presidential aide, Hakeem Baba‑Ahmed, has urged Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step aside saying that the President’s continued stay in office undermines Nigeria’s chances of survival and genuine reform.

Baba‑Ahmed who previously served as Tinubu’s political adviser but resigned soon after inauguration argued that while Tinubu once exhibited “hunger and brilliance” in his political climb, his performance in office has fallen short of delivering on the ambitious promises that secured public support.

According to him, the current style of governance appears “insular and disconnected” from the socioeconomic realities of many Nigerians including issues of insecurity, economic hardship, and institutional inertia.

Baba‑Ahmed believes that the best way forward is for Tinubu to pave the way for a younger, more energetic and determined successor within the ruling party rather than attempting re‑election in 2027.

Whether this public call will shift the political calculations within his party or among the electorate remains to be seen but it signals growing restiveness even among erstwhile insiders over the pace and direction of governance under Tinubu.
