FCT minister inspects progress on 6-lane road project in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Barrister Nyesome Wike has conducted a high-level inspection of the ambitious 6-lane road expansion project currently underway in Abuja, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to modernizing the capital’s infrastructure.

The road, which links key residential and commercial districts, is expected to drastically reduce travel times, support new real-estate development corridors, and ease pressure on traffic bottlenecks that have plagued the city for years.

During the site visit, engineers updated the minister on drainage systems, pedestrian facilities, street lighting architecture, and environmental safeguards built into the project. The minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of work but warned contractors that delays or substandard execution would not be tolerated.

The project forms part of a broader FCT transport modernization blueprint, which includes junction improvements, new feeder roads, and expanded public mobility networks. Residents and business owners in the surrounding areas have welcomed the project, saying it will boost commerce and improve quality of life once completed.
