The Federal Government and the Kano State Government have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Nigeria’s industrial base by partnering to build a manufacturing hub in the state. The initiative is a central plank of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to drive economic diversification, regional industrialization, and job creation.
At a high‑level meeting in Abuja, the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, and Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam agreed on the framework for the project. Ata described the initiative as a “transformative investment” that would stimulate long‑term economic stability in the northern region and attract significant private‑sector investment.
In response, Abdussalam confirmed that the state would make land available for the project, underscoring the urgency of initiating construction. “Our people are eager for tangible development. This initiative will enable us to empower youth, create jobs, and build a resilient, self‑sufficient economy,” he stated.
The collaboration is also exploring ways to deepen cooperation in housing and urban planning, focusing on infrastructure expansion, sustainable city development, and improved residential conditions. According to the Minister’s media aide, Adamu Aminu, the initiative positions Kano State as a future economic powerhouse that will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, boosting the state’s economic recovery and aligning with national growth objectives.
