The Federal Government has begun the disbursement of N77,000 as the new monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
President Bola Tinubu initially announced the increment in September 2024, but months of delays left corps members uncertain.
After nearly six months of waiting, corps members have now started receiving the revised stipend.
A serving corps member in Kwara State confirmed the development, calling the increase “long overdue.”
“This is something we have been expecting for months. Finally, the government has started paying, though it seems to be in batches,” he said.
Another corps member in Abuja also confirmed the payment, stating, “It was high time.”
Social media reactions have been mixed, with some corps members celebrating while others await confirmation of payment.
