Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has flagged off the construction of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate at Ekpene Ukim in Uruan Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to collaboration with the Federal Government to address Nigeria’s housing deficit.
The event, which marked the official launch of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme in Akwa Ibom, was attended by senior government officials, local leaders, and representatives of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
Governor Eno expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FHA for choosing Akwa Ibom as the first state for the national housing rollout, describing it as “a landmark example of effective inter-governmental cooperation.” He assured project managers of full state support, including construction of access roads, provision of utilities, and enhanced security around the site.
FHA Managing Director and CEO, Hon. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, said the choice of Akwa Ibom was influenced by the state’s hospitable environment and the Governor’s demonstrated commitment to social infrastructure.
In their goodwill messages, the Chairman of Uruan Local Government, Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong; the Executive Director of Estate Services, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok; and representatives of Ibom Mortgage Bank and FMHA Mortgage Bank Limited, commended both the state and federal governments for the partnership aimed at expanding access to affordable housing.
