Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended his daughter, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, for her dedication to sustaining the vision of his late wife, Pastor Patience Eno, through the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).
Speaking at GIFA’s first anniversary celebration in Uyo, Governor Eno praised Lady Obareki for effectively driving her mother’s dream of supporting families and the less privileged. The event also marked the late First Lady’s posthumous birthday.
“Your achievements in just one year show the impact of this initiative,” Governor Eno stated, reaffirming his administration’s support for women’s inclusion and social welfare programs such as maternal care and gender-based violence interventions.
He also appreciated the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital for naming its new antenatal building after the late First Lady and acknowledged efforts by local government officials to honor her legacy.
Lady Obareki, in her address, highlighted GIFA’s achievements, including providing school supplies for 15,000 children, healthcare for rural women, and empowering 5,000 women. She pledged to expand GIFA’s impact and called for public support.
The event also featured the foundation-laying ceremony for an ultramodern GIFA Secretariat in Uyo, underscoring the administration’s commitment to humanitarian service.
