Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has inaugurated the Akwa Ibom State Security Trust Fund, aimed at strengthening security infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
Speaking at the launch held in Uyo, themed “Partnership for a Safer Akwa Ibom”, the Governor said, “Security is everybody’s business. While Akwa Ibom remains one of the safest states in Nigeria, we must act proactively to sustain this status.”
He commended the robust collaboration of security agencies and stressed that peace and safety were central to his ARISE Agenda. The Governor also outlined recent initiatives, including the creation of a Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways and the Ibom Community Watch.
Chairman of the Trust Fund, Mr. Paul Usoro (SAN), assured transparency in its management, while former IGP Usman Alkali praised the Governor’s vision, describing him as “a rare breed among his peers.” The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, also pledged support through his representative.
The event was attended by security chiefs, lawmakers, captains of industry, and community leaders.
