Gov Okpebholo tells edo assembly his administration is delivering life-changing projects

Governor Monday Okpebholo has defended his administration’s record of delivering tangible infrastructure and development projects to the Edo State House of Assembly, saying the work underway is transforming the state and raising living standards for residents. Lawmakers heard that the government’s focus on practical, high-impact initiatives is aimed at addressing long-standing challenges in infrastructure, security and social services.

Okpebholo told the assembly that his government has awarded over two dozen new road contracts covering more than 250 kilometres, and for the first time in state history, has begun construction of multiple flyovers in strategic urban corridors to improve traffic flow and boost economic activity. Investments in primary healthcare facilities, including a new 100-bed hospital, and the revitalisation of agricultural programmes with a significantly increased budget were also highlighted as part of his administration’s developmental drive.

He noted that efforts to tackle insecurity previously a significant drag on growth — have been met with decisive legislative support, resulting in safer communities that are now more attractive to investors and family life. The governor said these actions demonstrate a shift from rhetoric to reality, with public funds being channelled into projects that directly benefit citizens.

Okpebholo’s presentation matches the Assembly’s ongoing support for the 2026 Edo State budget, which was recently presented at nearly ₦940 billion to fund priority areas in infrastructure, health, education and economic revival.
