Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, says the recent approval of international status for Victor Attah International Airport will transform the state’s economic landscape through enhanced trade, tourism, and job creation.
Speaking to Government House Correspondents on his return from a meeting with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), Governor Eno confirmed that full international operations will begin by the first quarter of 2026.
He added that the upgrade positions Ibom Air for expanded regional routes and new partnerships with global carriers.
According to him, the achievement underscores the value of aligning with the Federal Government to deepen aviation development and accelerate long-pursued approvals.
The governor returned to a reception by senior officials, political leaders and industry stakeholders.
